| Join
text and/or values using a formula |
If you've ever wanted the
'join' text from two or more cells together into one
cell, or add the result of a formula into a sentence,
simply use the & to do it within a formula.
For example, say you want to calculate the amount an
employee earned in a week, and you want the result to
say, "John Doe earned a total of $400 this
week". If the employee name is in cell A1 and the
hours they worked are in A2 and their hourly wage is in
A3, the formula would look like this… =A1&"
earned a total of $" & A2*A3 & " this
week."
We can not only add the employee name but calculate the
amount they earned in the same formula.
